Fisher’s earliest sweet corn are said to be one of the best in the business. These open pollinated corn variety are as delicious in taste as beautiful they are. They have brilliant husk cover and tip fill. The kernels are well arranged in the rows of 10 to 12. The multi colored stalks look striking reaching up to 5-6’. Said to survive temperature as low as 23 degrees Fahrenheit, they take 70 days to maturity.

History

Sweet corn’s origins can be traced back to 8000 years ago. However, the contemporary varieties descended from the spontaneously mutated field corns. It was grown by Native American tribes and reached Europe from them.

Fisher’s earliest however, made their presence felt over 60 years ago when Ken Fisher (of Fisher’s seeds) handpicked them in Belgrade for high altitude and short season. It took him decades to do that.

Purpose/Use

The product has various uses to its credit. They can be eaten with beans to form a balanced diet. Alternatively, it can be mixed with cream sauce or milk to make creamed corn. Sweet corn soup is another dish which is famously made out of it.

The kernels can be used as pizza topping or in salads. Dried kernels can be cooked in oil to make corn nuts.
